A little preparation helps us obtain clear images and prepare an accurate report. Choose your examination below for general preparation guidance.

Important: Preparation can vary with the exact examination, your symptoms and your doctor’s instructions. Please follow the instructions given by Accuscan when you book. Do not stop prescribed medicines or change diabetes medication unless your treating clinician advises you to.
Ultrasound Abdomen
Fasting may be required

Fasting is usually required, but it depends on the area being examined. In medical emergencies, fasting may not be necessary.

Fetal / Pregnancy Ultrasound
Bring previous reports

Bring your previous reports. Bladder preparation depends on the stage of pregnancy.

Level-II / Anomaly Scan
No fasting needed

Bring your pregnancy records and previous scan reports. Fasting is not needed; you may have breakfast or lunch as usual.

NT / NB Scan
Confirm timing

Confirm the appropriate stage of pregnancy and any bladder instructions. Fasting is not needed; you may have breakfast or lunch as usual.

TVS / Transvaginal Ultrasound
Empty bladder

The examination usually requires an empty bladder. Fasting is not needed.

Fetal Doppler
Follow scan-specific advice

Follow the instructions for your specific scan and bring previous reports. Fasting is not needed.

Biophysical Profile (BPP)
Usually no fasting

Understanding ultrasound

Ultrasound is real-time imaging — not just a picture.

Ultrasound uses sound waves to create real-time images. Depending on the examination, it can assess organs, blood flow, pregnancy development and many superficial structures.

  • Different probes are selected for different body regions.
  • Measurements and Doppler information can add clinical detail.
  • Preparation varies — for example, some examinations require a full bladder while others do not.
  • Your radiologist interprets the examination in its clinical context.

Understanding DR X-Ray

Digital X-Ray (DR) technology

At Accuscan Diagnostic Centre, our X-ray examinations are performed using Digital Radiography (DR) technology. Unlike conventional CR systems that require an imaging cassette to be processed separately, DR uses a digital detector to capture the X-ray image directly.

Images become available almost immediately, making the examination more streamlined and efficient. Our team can promptly review the image and, when required, confirm that the area of interest has been adequately captured before you leave.

EARLY PREGNANCY

Viability & dating

Confirms an intrauterine pregnancy when appropriate, assesses viability and helps establish gestational age.

11+0  to  13+6 WEEKS*

NT + NB

Nuchal translucency (neck thickness) and nasal bone assessment as part of first-trimester screening when criteria are met.

ABOUT 18–22 WEEKS*

Detailed anomaly

A structured mid-trimester assessment of fetal anatomy, placenta, fluid and other relevant parameters.

LATE PREGNANCY

Fetal Growth, Doppler & BPP

Growth, fetal biometry, fluid, placenta , Doppler assessment and biophysical profile (BPP) when clinically indicated.

Pregnancy-related documentation at Accuscan

For pregnancy, abortion-related and post-abortion scans, the centre requires local ID proof, a doctor’s prescription/referral and two passport-size photographs. These are the centre’s stated documentation requirements; legal requirements can vary by applicable law and authority.

List of documents needed for all pregnancy scans , post abortion / abortion related scans, suspected pregnancy scans : - Patient's aadhar with local address , Recent Registered local Doctor's prescription slip with valid doctor's signature and stamp (not older than 1 month), two passport size photographs, Husband's aadhar card may be asked in special cases if patient's ID not local. Accuscan centre's referral form is not valid. 

*Timing is general guidance. NT/NB and anomaly-scan timing depends on gestational age, early scan fetal length (Crown rump length-CRL) and clinical circumstances. Ultrasound is a screening/diagnostic imaging tool as appropriate, but no scan detects every abnormality.

PC-PNDT: what patients should know.

The PC-PNDT Act regulates prenatal diagnostic techniques for specified medical purposes and prohibits sex selection and communication of fetal sex in the circumstances covered by the law.

Why pregnancy scans are regulated

  • To prevent misuse of prenatal diagnostic techniques for sex selection.
  • Registered facilities must follow prescribed procedures and maintain required records.
  • Pregnancy imaging is performed for legitimate medical/clinical purposes.

At Accuscan

  • We do not provide fetal sex determination or sex-selection services.
  • Pregnancy-related documentation is required as stated above.
  • If you are unsure which scan is required, speak with your doctor and call the centre before visiting.
